When the lounge was relocated to the opposite side of the room, a built-in fireplace was introduced, framed by custom bookcases on either side. The plaster surround was carefully crafted to echo the look of traditional timber designs while complying with modern safety standards.
The bookcases provide both practical storage and space to showcase family treasures, while the fireplace serves as an inviting focal point for the room.

This master bedroom is quickly becoming one of my favourites with a mix of the most beautiful tones, patterns and textures.

This Birkenhead villa was extensively renovated around 13 years ago, it’s a beautiful home in a stunning location with the most incredible views! My clients wanted the space to feel more homely, while still maintaining a sense of refinement. They were keen to avoid any major changes to the kitchen, so I recommended some tweaks to elevate the space.

- We replaced the mirror and wine fridge on the rear of the island, along with the existing white cabinetry, with deep charcoal cabinetry. This helped ground the island and allowed the eye to be drawn to the incredible view beyond the kitchen window. We also updated the end and back panels with shaker detailing, adding an extra layer of texture and interest.

- The existing @monmouthglassstudio pendant lights were lowered to create more presence and help visually connect the space.

- We introduced new @simonjamesstore Kashmir stools in custom leather colours, carefully chosen to complement the new island, pendants, and the wider home.

- Finally, we brought a sense of life and softness to the kitchen with a potted orchid from @curatedbotanics

I will post some more updates of this house this year as spaces come to completion.

Last week’s install featured a curated mix of NZ-made and imported pieces, coming together to create a layered, inviting space.
We started with the ultimate foundation: the hand-knotted, hand-dyed Agra rug from @armadilloandco, sourced through @theivyhousenz.

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to design this space for such wonderful clients in their beautiful heritage home.

A huge thank you to Marina—who transforms my hand-drawn plans and notes into precise CAD drawings, and brings the vision to life through stunning 3D renders.

This en-suite is very compact, so it was designed to have its moment with the marble and raw brass tapware taking centre stage. The reeded glass, mirror cabinets and clean lines keep it clutter free.

This side of our lounge was always a challenge to style. The T.V dominated the space and the scale of the room meant that anything placed on the top of the base cabinetry felt too small and insignificant. So, I designed this upper cabinetry and it turns out it was the missing piece of the puzzle, the lounge now feels complete and like home ❤️
