From a sketch on the aeroplane to reality in our new @curatedbotanics showroom.

This kitchen has been such a special project to design. Bringing together the materials, details and finishes I love, and creating a space that truly feels like home, has been incredibly rewarding.

I’m so grateful to the talented industry partners who helped bring this vision to life.
@bellakitchens2012 created this pretty kitchen, navigating some tricky site and engineering challenges with their usual precision and care.
The beautiful details include swoon-worthy tapware from @inresidencenz, hardware from @perrinandrowe and @armacmartin, stunning Beverly Rose marble from @cdkstonenz, expertly crafted stonework by @artstoneteam, Moroccan zellige tiles from @tilesofezra and @tiledepotnz paint by @aaltopaint, oak flooring by @fortetimber, and the much-loved @smeg_nz oven. Electrical switches by @pdlhome_ Finished with @blum hardware throughout, every detail was thoughtfully considered.
To everyone who played a part in bringing it to life, thank you. I’m so proud of what we’ve created together.

Come and see it in our new space - 6D Link Drive, Wairau, Auckland.

And VOILA from thoughts to Christmas reality!

This beautiful fire surround was crafted especially for our new @curatedbotanics and @abbeylanghome showroom by the amazing team @designer_plaster . We couldn’t have an Abbey Lang Home space without it feeling like a home which meant we had to put in a fireplace - logically! This electric fireplace by @rinnainz was the perfect solution as it didn’t need gas, wood or consent, just a power point and some love.
I specifically wanted curves on the fire surround and mantle to soften the angles and I’m thrilled with the result.

Pop in store - 6d Link Drive, Wairau Park in Auckland to see our new home!

To be honest, I have found this post a hard one to write. It feels like such a journey we have been on to get to this place with Curated Botanics.

From our dining room, to the (leaky) garage, to Heather’s minor dwelling, to one storey in Porana Road, then two, to a much larger building in Porana Road — and now, all the way to our new home in Link Drive.

There have been three years of Christmas showcases in our home too. The last one nearly killed us, and it was then that John and I said, “Never again.” As much as we loved hosting everyone, the months that followed were chaos in our family home. When John was working 16-hour days and the house was still upside down from Christmas (in September) we knew it was simply too much.

Our journey has been one of gradual growth, with many lessons along the way. More than anything, we are incredibly grateful for the path that has been laid before us. We have been blessed with far too many things to count.
Firstly, John. Steadfast, dedicated and endlessly positive, he is the unsung hero of this business. Without him, none of this would be possible. He is the engine that keeps everything running, the love of my life and the most incredible Dad to our kids.

And then there is Heather — who, as you can see from these photos, absolutely loves being in front of the camera 😂. She is endlessly creative, bringing our big-picture installations and floral masterpieces to life. Her impeccable eye for botanicals and design, combined with her love and dedication to our team, is such a huge part of what makes Curated Botanics what it is.

Our new home houses our purpose-built showroom, designed to feel instantly like a home. So many amazing suppliers and tradespeople have supported us with their time, labour and products to make this space extra special. I’ll be sharing more of them over the coming weeks.
And to our incredible team — Margarette, our real-life angel, and our wonderful new team — we are so grateful for you.

This has been a long, sometimes crazy and often exhausting journey, but we are so incredibly proud of where it has led us.

Welcome to our new home. ❤️

I am designing a bar today and it reminded me how much I love this one I did a few years back.

I have loved working on this incredible home. The lounge is coming together, still a few final touches to come (e.g a lampshade!)
Also - how amazing is that book shown at the end?!

This ensuite bathroom was designed as a calming retreat — a place to step away from the pace of family life. Materiality plays an important role with the textured wall tiles creating softness, movement, and an ever-changing play of light across the space.

Being involved in the spatial planning process is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. The layout allows the vanity wall to subtly conceal the toilet and shower, creating a space that centres around its most beautiful features. Full-height windows frame the gardens beyond, while natural light dances across the textured tiles.

This Greenhithe home features strong indoor-outdoor flow and an open-plan layout with fewer walls throughout the living spaces. We utilised the space at the end of the dining room for a cabinet that provides both storage and a place to display the homeowners’ treasured pieces.

Although this home includes a scullery, we incorporated a dedicated breakfast area concealed behind pocket doors, allowing the scullery to remain clutter-free and focused on baking.

The formal lounge of this Greenhithe home captivates the garden on one side and the pool on the other. This space is relaxed yet refined with a mixture of natural materials and finishes.

Grand in scale and proportion, this master bedroom called for depth and warmth. Deep inky blue walls take centre stage warmed with timber, brass and rattan elements and softened with botanicals (of course!) by @curatedbotanics

Designing a home is so much more than collating beautiful things, it’s about creating a home that connects on a deeper level. We went through quite a few iterations of wallpapers for this powder room, until we found this incredible block print from @waltergtextiles Block printing is a traditional (and beautiful) technique prevalent in India, a place which has significance to this family.

When the lounge was relocated to the opposite side of the room, a built-in fireplace was introduced, framed by custom bookcases on either side. The plaster surround was carefully crafted to echo the look of traditional timber designs while complying with modern safety standards.
The bookcases provide both practical storage and space to showcase family treasures, while the fireplace serves as an inviting focal point for the room.
